Block YouTube Shorts
Kindredly is a kid-friendly browser for iPhone, iPad and Android, and an extension for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox.
Kindredly counts YouTube Shorts as social media. Block social media is on for every new child, so Shorts are blocked from the start, and regular YouTube videos still play.
Turn it on
- Settings → your child → Filtering and blocking → Social media.
- Block social media: on.
It also blocks TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Discord.
Add a site under Exceptions to let it open.
If you allow social media
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Filtering and blocking → Distraction filters → Social media → YouTube Shorts | One video, then stop. No scrolling on to the next. The same for TikTok and Instagram. |
| Filtering and blocking → Blocked sites → Block a site: youtube.com/shorts | Blocks Shorts alone, even with social media allowed |
What your child sees
"Social media is blocked." with Send request and Ask in person.
